Frequently Asked Questions

A reliever can register with StaffSync and fill out the compulsory information for the role selected. StaffSync has an API with the Teachers Council to see if the name and registration number entered on the profile matches with the Registration Details held by the Council. However, schools must conduct their own verification of the mandatory areas, together with photo ID verification.

Relievers are employed by schools, not by StaffSync. If a reliever works at a State or Integrated school, their pay will be processed by each individual school. The school's Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing this via EdPay, the Ministry of Education's payroll system. Payments are processed fortnightly. If they work at a private school, they will be paid directly by the school.

We recommend calling CST if you have not heard from the reliever in case an emergency has happened and either the reliever or a family member have been prevented or are unable to access the school details.

You can record their sick leave and reassign the role to another reliever.

If required, a reliever should request mileage from the school.  Standard policy is that anything above 20kms can be claimed. A relievers distance can be checked in their profile on the 'General Details' page.

If you are looking to exclude specific relievers, we recommend selecting only the teachers that you wish to offer the job to rather than putting the job out to 'All your preferred relievers not already notified', or, 'Broadcast to all other relievers in the vicinity'.

You are able to terminate a teacher in their profile and provide information about the circumstances in a message box. This information is ONLY shared with StaffSync and not seen by the teacher. You can also call, or email, your StaffSync schools contact to report this confidentially.

Yes, you can create 'dummy' profiles - this is a profile not connected via the StaffSync app but attached to a particular teacher, and can hold all the same mandatory information as with live profiles to keep the school compliant for an ERO audit. This means you can then publish and assign a job to that teacher profile to ensure that your fortnightly SUE Report is up-to-date at all times and information is held in a real time state.

There is no set period referred to in the agreement for relief teachers. However, 2-3 days in commonly applied as relievers are still able to apply for other work. A cancellation on the day will prompt a reliever to claim for the day's work with your school.

Yes, you can offer a permanent position. StaffSync does not charge any type of placement or compensatory fees if this occurs.

The icon on your phone home screen will record each time you are sent a notification of a new job. If in the time between the job being sent to you and you opening the App, the job has been filled, the job notification will be shifted from “New Jobs” to “Missed Jobs”, and you will not see any notification under your “New Jobs” section.

If your password won’t work, or you have forgotten it, go to the home page where you sign in and click on the “Forgot Password” link. This will send an email to your recorded email address with a new link to create a new password.

This means that you may receive job notifications from schools using StaffSync within your work radius (the default setting for this is 10 km). There is no charge to receive these additional notifications.

In “Work Preferences” click on the blue circle on the right hand side of the summary dashboard at the top of the page which says “km work radius”. This will open up a new view showing a google map with all the schools within the radius you have currently set. To increase or decrease this radius, simply type a new number (in km) in the box above the map and click on the “Apply Travel Distance” button.

Under the Vulnerable Children’s Act, a school must collect the following five pieces of information about you before they can employ you as a new reliever:

  • Teacher Registration Number
  • Teacher Registration Expiry
  • Two forms of ID - one of which must be a photo ID (e.g. Driver’s License or Passport)
  • Reference
  • Chronological work history over the past 5 years

Apply for all the jobs that you want to do. If you are selected for one, you will be automatically removed from the other jobs.
