Hillmorton High Achieves 85% Job Fulfilment with StaffSync
Hillmorton High School is a large, diverse secondary school located in the southwest of Christchurch. Following the Canterbury earthquakes, the school expanded to accommodate Years 7–13 after the closure of a nearby intermediate school. Today, Hillmorton serves over 1,300 students and regularly requires up to 20 relievers per day – often more during the winter months.
Managing daily relief staffing at this scale placed a significant burden on the school’s relief coordinator. The manual processes were time-consuming, often spilling into personal time and creating inefficiencies that impacted both staff wellbeing and operational flow.
In February 2024, Hillmorton’s Head of IT reached out via the StaffSync website after a reliever recommended the platform. Within a week, StaffSync provided an on-site demonstration to the Head of IT and Associate Principal. The school quickly saw the potential and fully implemented StaffSync within a month of initial contact.
Immediately, StaffSync dramatically reduced the time and stress involved in managing relief staffing. By May 2024, the school extended StaffSync’s use to coordinate reader/writer roles, demonstrating the platform’s flexibility across multiple staffing needs. In early 2025, the relief coordinator role was handed over to a different staff member. Thanks to StaffSync’s intuitive design, no additional training was required – saving time and budget.
StaffSync has become an indispensable tool at Hillmorton High School, delivering efficient, scalable, and user-friendly management of relief staffing. With an 85% success rate in job fulfilment in 2024, the platform has proven its reliability and impact. Hillmorton’s experience highlights how digital solutions like StaffSync can streamline school operations, reduce administrative burden, and enhance staff wellbeing.
